Get organized! City Council hearings on District budget

Parents across the city are mobilizing for action around next week’s City Council hearings on the District budget. We want a powerful presence and voice for more school funding, but also that the SRC must invest those dollars in the classrooms and teaching of District-managed public schools – NO blank check!

Here’s the schedule:

MondayApril 29

  • 10 a.m., City Hall: The District will present this budget before City Council starting at 10 a.m.
  • 6:30 p.m., Lincoln High School: City Councilman Bobby Henon will host a neighborhood public hearing on the city budget, which can include the School District, for testimony. This can be an important way to reach Councilman Henon.

Tuesday, April 30

  • 10 a.m., City Hall: Public testimony for City Council at 10 a.m.  and at 1 p.m. Call to testify at 215-686-3407.
  • 5:30 p.m., 440 N. Broad Street: Public testimony on the District budget. Call to testify 215-400-4180.

If you haven’t had a chance to review it , here’s documents the District has shared regarding the fiscal year 2014 situation.
We’ve uploaded them to this public location:

More documents are also at the District website here.

  1. I will be speaking at the SRC meeting on April 30 at 5:30p.m., with regard to the lack of funding for the music program(instrumental).
