A parent voice for change

What makes Parents United for Public Education different? We’re creating a citywide voice for change, across schools, neighborhoods, and for a public school system that values not only quality but equity. We make a difference. Our parents are leaders in their schools who believe a strong, vigilant and organized parent body is one of the most important ways to hold our elected and district officials accountable for serving all our children.

PARENTS ARE SPEAKING UP FOR OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND OUR COMMUNITIES.

Public schools matter. Many of us have children in various choice options, but we all value the importance of investing in our neighborhood public schools.

Money matters. We’re parents who talk about budgets and the impact they have on our schools and classrooms, on teaching and learning, and on the health and vitality of our school and neighborhood communities.

Parent voices matter. We are partners for sustainable – not just dramatic – education efforts. We believe in transforming our schools based on the needs of our children and the communities that educate them, not “reforming” them according to market-based, competition driven theories promoted by far too many education reformers today.

Parents United for Public Education invests in parents, our public schools and the collaboration needed to make them academically rich and nurturing places for our children to grow and learn.

IT’S TIME TO GET MORE ACTIVE THAN EVER.

All of us are parents. We have jobs and families, volunteer commitments and limited resources. But our voices matter. We have a new superintendent who brings new energy and hope to this debate. It’s more important than ever for us to bring an informed and engaged parent voice to the table. We need to find sustainable ways to hold our school systems accountable, to assure financial stability and build schools that educate our children and revitalize our communities.
